pediatric clinic

Philadelphia

The project was to design a 4,600 sq ft non-profit, pediatric clinic adjacent to a large, urban hospital in North Philadelphia that can accommodate all patients from infants to teenagers. This project also required the design of a unique way-finding concept for the facility.

The concept was inspired by the Northern lights and the starry, snow-capped mountain landscape of the Arctic Circle. To achieve this, white rubber sheet flooring with sparkles embedded was included to create the illusion of sparkling snow on the ground. A dark colored ceiling with recessed lighting was used to represent the night’s sky and some walls featured a mountain-scape vinyl wall covering. The way-finding concept is a ceiling mounted light fixture made to mimic the Northern Lights. It spans the length of the hallways and has a gradation of color as you move through the space.
